About Sananga Rapé (Hapé)

This regular strength blend from the Katukina tribe of Acre, Brazil is built around the root bark of the Sananga plant (Tabernaemontana sananho) — the same sacred plant at the heart of the Katukina's Sananga eye drops, here prepared as a rapé alongside tobacco from tribal lands. Sananga is one of the most ceremonially significant plants the Katukina work with.

Known as manaá among the Kaxinawá and becchete among the Matsés, Sananga has been used across Amazonian traditions for generations: to clear the mind of distractive energies, to sharpen focus before hunting, and to open a deeper quality of ceremonial perception. In rapé form it carries the same field-clearing intention as the eye drops, delivered through a different pathway — the Katukina's particular expression of a plant that has long been held for its quality of clearing and sharpening what might otherwise remain clouded.

The character of this blend is clarifying rather than grounding — focused, field-oriented, and suited to ceremonial use. Customers work with it across longer ceremonial periods and find it integrates well alongside other blends; one describes it as a blend that "held me together over the last month."

Storage and Freshness

It is not recommended to store hapé in the refrigerator as condensation may form inside the container upon removal.

About Rapé (Hapé): Benefits & Safety

Rapé (hapé) is a traditional Amazonian preparation crafted from finely ground plants, botanicals, and tree ash, used ceremonially by Indigenous peoples of the Amazon basin across many generations.

Blends vary widely — most fall into three broad categories: Spirit & Ceremony, Grounding & Release, or Strength & Clarity — each reflecting the intentions of the tribe and maker. Traditional use is ceremonial, approached with clear intention and respect for the plants and the tradition.

Please approach this rapé with care and clear intention — best used in ceremony or with conscious purpose.
