About Nunu Rapé (Hapé)

This light blend, crafted by the Yawanawa tribe of Acre, Brazil, carries the Nunu lineage — a tradition of the Amazon-Peru border where the cacao tree has long held a place of ceremony. The Yawanawa blend is built from wild cacao (Theobroma cacao) and tobacco from tribal lands, the cacao lending the blend its characteristic fresh, heart-oriented quality. In the original Matsés tradition from which the name derives, the act of blowing Nunu is understood as transmission — the giver sending not just powder but their own breath and spirit into the receiver. That quality of heart-to-heart exchange is something practitioners of this blend speak to consistently.

This is rapé known for its gentleness. "It doesn't snap my head back like most rapé," writes one practitioner, "but I have had some of the most profound ceremonies with it." Others describe "a subtle yet very immersive experience — a helpful catalyst for prayers and inner investigation." Those drawn to a softer, cacao-forward blend for moments of inner stillness, or seeking a gentler entry into the rapé tradition, return to Nunu again and again.

Explore the roots and reach of this tradition in The Ancient Art of Rapé.

This Nunu rapé is meticulously crafted by the Yawanawa tribe of Acre, Brazil, for our customers.

Storage and Freshness

It is not recommended to store hapé in the refrigerator as condensation may form inside the container upon removal.
