About Chichá Rapé (Hapé)

This regular strength blend, crafted by the Katukina tribe of Acre, Brazil, combines tobacco from tribal lands with the ash of the Chichá tree — known across Brazil as Xixá. The Katukina reach for Chichá when the work ahead asks for attention: it is the blend they associate with clarity and steady presence, traditionally taken before ceremony, before study, and before the long patient hours of bead making.

Where many blends settle a person, Chichá fortifies and cleanses. It is worked with when reserves are low — against mental fatigue and heaviness rather than toward stillness — and practitioners describe it as uplifting and grounding in equal measure: a clear, energised state, a balance between body and mind.

Two ingredients, nothing more: tobacco, and the concentrated ash that carries it. The chichá is an Amazonian forest tree of the Sterculia genus — a relative of cacao in the mallow family — and its name is said to come from the way its seed pods split open, like a closed hand unclenching. The raw ash travels the Brazilian trade on its own; a finished Chichá blend is a rare thing to find.

Storage and Freshness

Hapé snuff can remain potent for years when kept in a cool, dry, and dark location. To maintain its quality, ensure your hapé is tightly sealed and protected from any form of moisture. It is not recommended to store hapé in the refrigerator as condensation may form inside the container upon removal.

About Rapé (Hapé): Benefits & Safety

Rapé (hapé) is a traditional Amazonian preparation crafted from finely ground plants, botanicals, and tree ash, used ceremonially by Indigenous peoples of the Amazon basin across many generations.

Blends vary widely — most fall into three broad categories: Spirit & Ceremony, Grounding & Release, or Strength & Clarity — each reflecting the intentions of the tribe and maker. Traditional use is ceremonial, approached with clear intention and respect for the plants and the tradition.

Please approach this rapé with care and clear intention — best used in ceremony or with conscious purpose.
