About Cumaru Rapé (Hapé)

This regular strength blend, crafted by the Katukina tribe of Acre, Brazil, combines tobacco from tribal lands with Cumaru (Dipteryx odorata) — the Tonka Bean tree, known across the Amazon as "Amazonian vanilla." One of the most aromatic trees in the rainforest, Cumaru seeds carry a rich, sweet, warm fragrance reminiscent of vanilla and almond, and have been used in indigenous Amazonian ceremony for generations for their grounding, uplifting, and spiritually opening qualities.

Cumaru rapé is traditionally valued for its ability to support visionary states, deepen meditation, and open a pathway to spiritual connection. Its character is simultaneously grounding and uplifting — reviewers describe it as "really strong grounding" and "very spiritual and uplifting" in the same breath — and yet it sits on the softer, more accessible side for its strength. The Tonka Bean's natural sweetness gives it an aromatic warmth that one customer simply called "just a little bit delicious." Its mellow, spacious quality makes it a favoured choice for ceremony, introspection, and setting intentions.

Storage and Freshness

It is not recommended to store hapé in the refrigerator as condensation may form inside the container upon removal.

About Rapé (Hapé): Benefits & Safety

Rapé (hapé) is a traditional Amazonian preparation crafted from finely ground plants, botanicals, and tree ash, used ceremonially by Indigenous peoples of the Amazon basin across many generations.

Blends vary widely — most fall into three broad categories: spiritual, healing, or fortifying — each reflecting the intentions of the tribe and maker. Traditional use is ceremonial, approached with clear intention and respect for the plants and the tradition.
