What is a Kuripe?

A Kuripe is a traditional ceremonial tool used by indigenous tribes of the Amazon rainforest, specifically for administering sacred plant medicines like rapeh snuff. It is a small, hollow pipe made of bamboo, wood, or bone, and is used to blow the rapeh into the nostrils. The use of Kuripes dates back hundreds of years, with different tribes having their own unique designs and styles.

Kuripes are often intricately decorated with carvings or painted designs and may feature feathers, crystals, or other natural materials. Some Kuripes are designed to be worn as jewelry, making them functional and beautiful accessories for ceremonies and rituals.

The use of rapeh in shamanic practice is believed to help facilitate a deeper connection to the spiritual realm and to promote healing on a physical, emotional, and spiritual level. Kuripes are used for the self-administration of rapeh, while the Tepi is used to deliver rapeh to others

What is Rapé (Hapé)?

Rapé snuff — also called rapeh or hapé — is a sacred Amazonian medicine prepared and used by indigenous tribes for centuries. This handcrafted blend combines dried, ground medicinal plants with alkaline tree ashes, each formula reflecting the unique traditions of its makers. Traditionally, rapé is administered through a bone or bamboo kuripe pipe, blown directly into the nostrils.

Rapé blends vary widely in purpose, generally falling into three main categories: spiritualhealing, and fortifying. Known for its potent purifying and grounding effects, rapé is used to clear negative energy, sharpen focus, and deepen spiritual awareness. In ceremony, it serves as a powerful ally for connecting with the spirit world, fostering self-reflection, and supporting emotional and physical healing.
