About Jenipapo Rapé (Hapé)

This spiritual blend, crafted by the Puyanawa tribe of Acre, Brazil, centres on Jenipapo (Genipa americana) — a tree whose unripe fruit holds one of the Amazon's most arresting secrets. Its juice is colourless when extracted, but on contact with skin it transforms: oxidising slowly into a deep indigo-blue that lasts over a week. For centuries, this visible change has served as a metaphor at the heart of Amazonian ceremony — the invisible made manifest, the inner world revealed.

In Puyanawa tradition, Jenipapo is known as Yandï'Pawa — "spiritual spark" in the Pano language. Across the Amazon, tribes have long believed that those painted with jenipapo designs are recognised by spirits — the marks identifying them as protected, as belonging to the ceremony. When shamans apply jenipapo before working with rapé or other medicines, they are not adorning themselves — they are donning spiritual armour. Some tribal legends describe the blue pigment as the memory of the stars, brought to earth in the form of fruit.

This rapé carries that same intention inward. Traditionally valued for sharpening perception, opening introspective states, and supporting energetic clarity during ceremony, Jenipapo rapé is blended here with Tsunu (Platycyamus regnellii) ash and tobacco from Puyanawa tribal lands. Its aroma is fresh, earthy, and subtly fruity — immediately recognisable among Amazonian blends.

Storage and Freshness

It is not recommended to store hapé in the refrigerator as condensation may form inside the container upon removal.

About Rapé (Hapé): Benefits & Safety
