About Copaíba Rapé (Hapé)
This strong blend, crafted by the Huni Kuin tribe of Acre, Brazil, combines tobacco from tribal lands and Tsunu ash (Platycyamus regnellii) with Copaíba (Copaifera langsdorffii) — the "oil of the forest," one of the most revered trees in Amazonian medicine. The Copaíba tree is deeply embedded in indigenous cosmology as a symbol of ancestral strength, deep roots, and protection — qualities that carry directly into this rapé.
Among Amazonian communities, Copaíba rapé is known as rapé de força e conexão — a rapé of strength and connection. For the Huni Kuin, this reflects their deep relationship with the copaíba tree itself: majestic, deep-rooted, enduring — its presence in the forest a lesson in quiet strength and reciprocity. Central to Huni Kuin cosmology is the understanding that what is taken from the forest must be returned; Copaíba rapé, prepared with reverence by the tribe's elders, carries that intention directly into ceremony. Those who sit with this blend describe it as "bright and refreshing" — with a distinctive quality at introduction that sets it apart — "a fantastic choice for an elevated evening."
